The Boy, the Bird and the Coffin Maker by Matilda Woods
2.0
Despite my two-star rating, I actually enjoyed the book. It's a kid-friendly quick read. However, it starts up very slow. I enjoyed the beginning because I was in the mood for some slice-of-life but it takes a while for the plot to even show up. Even then, when it does, it starts to feel a bit rushed. I really liked the writing style, though many of the characters other than Alberto and Tito seemed very one-dimensional and their actions seemed forced. The ending was nice...but sad, too. I suppose that's just me, though. I see things through a different lens and I could tell that the ending was meant to be a happy one. All in all, it was an okay read. It's something I would recommend to younger readers (elementary level) but it just wasn't meant for me.
