Beyond Reason by Lee McCormick
3.0
Back in the Beyond world with a different take on reincarnation.
Axel and Xavier meet by chance and Axel helps him recover. One thing leads to another, bada bing bada boom, those forced proximity pheromones were working overtime.
Fast forward 22 years after tragedy strikes and Kade just laid waste to the facility to get Seth back. Xavier wakes up in a Freaky Friday moment but without the mother daughter thing going on. His previous persona stole some precious info that he now has to protect while also making his way to Axel. Axel is understandably surprised by this, as I would be too.
There’s a lot of domestic scenes while they get used to each other again so many years later, and Xavier gets used to his new body which is NOT improved. I had to keep pulling myself back to the book here because these parts are not my favorite in any book, so I really struggled here. Xavier does a lot of running away when he doesn’t like something too and just overall making some silly choices. But they furthered the plot so….
When Kade and Seth showed up I loved it. I liked how this tied back to Axel in some way, that was interesting. Like all these lines and webs are connected. We also get a sneaky peek in one of the other facilities at the next book if you’re paying attention.
