Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross
5.0
I waited a very long time for the right moment to read this book because I had already heard a lot about it and didn't want to read it ‘in between’.
And I wasn't disappointed. From the very beginning I was mesmerised by the writing style, it was like a warm hug and a breath of fresh air.
The ‘Rivals to Lovers’ trope was perfectly delivered. Those who say Iris and Roman fell in love too quickly - have you actually read the book?
Roman liked her from the start and Iris was attracted to him. Even in war, there is no real ‘getting to know each other’ phase - every second is important because it could be the last. That's why I find the process very comprehensible and beautiful.
The very realistic description of the war also shook my heart, it was as if I had been there and experienced the fear and pain...
‘Four Metres, He was almost to her...’ That's when it was all over me, I had tears in my eyes.
This book was really waiting for me, as if I had needed the perfect time. It left me with a melancholy and a longing for a time I never experienced.
5+/5 ⭐
