Another book that I think would have made me sob in a different season of life. With incredibly sparse writing and propulsive, list-like sentences, this is a portrait of being human and the things that tear us apart. I loved how there was both a distance from the characters and an intense intimacy with them. The setting of the pool was odd, but engrossing, and the different structure of each chapter was inventive and engrossing. My one primary criticism (unrelated to the timing of my read and the distraction and my difficulty connecting emotionally to a book) is that the first and second half of the book are disconnected and not well connected.
