The Song of David by Amy Harmon
4.0
I am so conflicted, I don't know if I can write a good review. But here goes nothing...
Fist I was so disappointed when I figured out it was Tag's story. I liked him on The law of Moses, but I wasn't crazy about him. He was just a nice character with serious issues. The kind of person you have to learn to endure to be capable of loving him. So, I almost abandon this book.
Then I got caught with Millie and Henry. He is adorable and genuine, his persona made this whole book worthy. I would have loved to see them happy, live was so hard on them it broke my heart, but Harmon knows how to deliver. Her capabilities with writing reality is overwhelming sometimes. Life isn't candies and rainbows and this book is about dealing with the worst of life and being ok with it or even happy. You can be happy when things get hard, you can have peace in the storm.
Also, I loved to see more of Moses. He is great, just amazing. I'm glad we have this gift of getting to know him more.
Last, the epilogue is set 40 years later. And we don't know for sure what happened. The ending is vague so you can chose your own. There is a lot of learning and a lot of heartbreak in this book, but it is also sweet and powerful. Thank you Amy.
-----Spoiler right here-----
I think Tag survived for a lot of years, I'm thinking ten to twelve years more but obviously died before Moses. When Moses sees him out of the corner of his eye I think it's Moses's time to go and Tag came to pick him up. Just my theory ❤️
