Jumper by Steven Gould
5.0
This book took me 5 hours to read. I read it all in one shot. I didn't move from my seat until I had completed it, not once. It had me captured. I read the book because the movie seemed like it was leading somewhere but didn't have enough time to get there and to my 'surprise' (please I'm being sarcastic, I know MOST movies are NEVER like their books, as with Bourne Identity my other fave book where the movie was nothing like the book and therefore hated by me) the book was nothing like the movie. Instead, it was amazing. What makes a good book for me is depth of character and exploration of the growth. I could care less what happens around them, I would rather know how what they are experiencing affects them and this book did that in rich and wonderful detail.
I think what I liked most about this book is how different Davy was from who I am. It made me explore myself. I would put down the book for a few minutes, stare off into space and think 'what would I do in that situation?' Not only did I get to explore the complexities of Gould's character, I got to explore myself, and that makes for me a perfect book.
