Lyudmila Pavlichenko's life is fascinating and I enjoy how Quinn parallels the stories of Mila's early life and war experiences with the 1942 goodwill tour of the US. It's all very exciting, emotional, romantic, and stirring. I especially enjoyed reading of Mila's friendship with Eleanor Roosevelt, who is just as warm, smart, and funny as I had always imagined.
My only complaint (spoiler alert)is that it was too easy to find out that the temperature in Washington, DC on the night October 31, 1942 was a comfortable 60 degrees - certainly too warm for a Russian to need a fur coat! However, it was fun to suspend my disbelief as Mila hunts the marksman who has hunted her from the moment she lands in the US.
My only complaint (spoiler alert)
