The art really helps add to the power of these stories. Everyone should read this, it's especially important if your life doesn't normally intersect with trans and queer people. I don't think people who live among the majority have a clue what the internal lives of people who experience oppression every day are like. It's hard to be yourself when society is telling you that you should be someone else.
