I liked this so much more on my second read! I think when I read it the first time I just couldn't wrap my head around why I'd be interested in a made up sport/mafia story lol, but Neil is such a fantastic protagonist and seeing him navigate his way around his new life and feeling hopeful again was both heart breaking and inspiring ||

On my third read, imma bump my rating from 4 to 5 stars. It's a book that I appreciate more on a reread, understanding the growth all the characters go through in the following books. This will always be on of my favorite trilogies and Neil is easily one of my favorite protagonists ever

Fourth read through I listened to the audio book and enjoyed it a lot! The female character voices were all a bit awkward since the narrator was a man, but other than that I think the narrator did a good job. This is a one of a kind series that certainly has it’s flaws, but there is something special about it that makes me keep coming back. Still 5 stars for me!
