Seven Days In June is perfection for a sultry and emotional summer read.
Thank you to Grand Central Publishing for my gifted copy for review!
Eva Mercy is the famous author of the Cursed series, a vampire tale with a decidedly "adult" take. Shane Hall is the bestselling author of four acclaimed literary novels, and he's notorious for rarely granting interviews or public appearances.
A chance meeting at a book festival brings the two together, but what do their pasts bring to the present? What have they done in the 15 years since last seeing each other and what brought them apart in the first place?
On the surface, this is a fantastic example of the second-chance trope. Don't be fooled - it is so very much more!
Author Tia Williams - where have you been with this flawless writing talent all this time?
The characters of Seven Days In June are bang-on with equal parts loveable and damaged. Beautifully fleshed out backstories lay the groundwork for being truly invested in their stories.
Issues of addiction, neglect, invisible disability, single parenthood, race and gender in the literary world are but a few touched upon here. It's quirky and witty and heartbreaking and charming all at once.
Definitely a highlight of my reading this year so far! Recommended!
 Released on June 1.
