Lindsay’s Review:
Wow, this book was mind-blowing! The amount of times my jaw dropped tops anything I've read so far! It was fascinating, repulsive, and everything in between! I couldn't put it down!! I stayed up all night reading, I had to know how it ended.
Lauren did an amazing job at really drawing you into the story, sometimes too good. 🧴 🥤⬅ iykyk
This was my first book by Lauren Biel and boy did I pick a doozy to start with. This is book really had me thinking about what I like to read 😅 Though it was my first it certainly won't be my last. I'm thinking Hitched is next!
I really enjoy psychology in general so if you do too, this one might really scratch an itch because ALL of these characters are "damaged" by the hands they were dealt in life. I spent a lot of time during and after really thinking about each of the characters and their upbringing and where they ended in life. I always love a good backstory for characters, especially the twisted ones. You will get that in this book, while it doesn't excuse everything, it definitely explains how each of these characters got to where they were in life when we meet them in this book. The brothers Alexzander and Gunnir grew up with a VERY dark father or “The Man'', the teachings of “The Man'' really bring to light why each brother is so messed up.
I recommend this book if you enjoy VERY dark reads, remember this is a dark horror romance! If you're iffy at all check those TW/CWs. I never check them and go in blind and this book really took me by surprise. Lauren describes this book as well as some of her others as “Traumances” and I didn’t fully understand that until I read it.
Special 🤢 TY to Biel's husband for his addition to the book (check the acknowledgements - after if you don't want spoilers)
