This was rough and I honestly almost didn’t finish it with only a handful of chapters left. I know the author was setting up for other spin off series but I think there were way too many subplots all happening at once which turned the plot into this overly convoluted situation with a weird reveal at the end. It felt like “this is the true evil of the story. Actually, no this this the true evil. No, you’re all wrong. This is the true evil.” It was also frustrating to have Piper throughout this series as this amazing badass who is so strong and able to protect those around her turn into something completely against her character. The surprise pregnancy trope I think also really made me dislike the final installment of this series. Plus, Ronan being the Harvester and having all this power but not being able to actual do anything was ridiculous. Honestly, those last scenes with his confessions of love really prevented this book from being like 2.5 for me. The emotional growth with his character was amazing to watch but that doesn’t stop me from being annoyed that he wasn’t able to use all his power when he needed it.
