The Very Nice Box by Laura Blackett, Eve Gleichman
1.0
This is an incredibly frustrating book. It kind of just waffles through. The early segments about grief are where the main meat is but it never feels fulfilled. The characters are not lovable, compelling, or even particularly interesting which is the major downfall. Both mcs just lie and evade and ignore their problems, they're kinda made for each other. This girl should've left the second she realized this dude was in an MRA group that literally forces the emotional labor onto women to make up for their own faults. Instead the white woman mc turns around and does the exact same thing to a person of color. I feel like there could be some message in there, but judging by the ending the author didn't even realize they were doing it....
At least Chekhov's box was filled I guess
