Rookie Recovery by Lex Easton, Jemma Croft, Lex Veia
5.0
New authors to me, but I already can't wait for book 2. This story is described as slow burn, but only in terms of anything physical happening. The flirting and
chemistry starts straight away and is high throughout. A grumpy/Sunshine pairing that has humour, I especially loved the Britishisms. The trolley museum was hilarious. This is a story you want to read with as little interruptions as possible because the intensity just keeps rising. The agony of Jamie, trying so hard not to buckle from Archie's reluctant flirting but he is so tempting and as his physical therapist, it is impossible not to touch him. Archie is British and the new hot shot for the Bobcat's. He is an ice hockey prodigy, having been a teen when he first skated. He used to skate at swindon ice rink, also know as The Link Centre, which I used to frequent as a teenager! I love it when I am familiar with places in books, it brings another element of connection. There is a third act break up which is agonising, it was hard to take sides; Jamie had his reasons but so did Archie. Watching each of them go into self destruction mode was sad and I couldn't wait for them to kiss and make up, which of course happens and was gorgeous. The two of them are just wonderful together, lots of hot steamy moments and a lovely start to a happy ever after. I can't wait for Book 2 to continue with the series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
