I am astonished I can’t find the book version (just audio) of this on Goodreads; maybe I’m looking in the wrong spot? I can’t believe there are only two reviews of this because wow, is it fantastic.

I think it’s rare that a classic retelling can be so true to the original story while instilling completely new takeaways on the reader but “Heartless” did just that. This is an absolutely gut wrenching story of poverty, class, love and, yes, growing up, that truly made me see each of the original Peter Pan characters in a whole new light. I’m shocked I was able to feel so much pain in such a few amount of pages but also still leave with a hopeful takeaway. I really hope that more people read this (got my copy from the library!) because it is a genuinely beautiful tale.
