Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay by Elena Ferrante
4.0
This might be my favorite installment so far - I was completely captivated. For the first time, I found myself incredibly frustrated by Elena. She accomplished nearly everything she set out to do, broke free of the hold her hometown and upbringing had on her, and yet she still needs and longs for the unattainable. This type of person is so one dimensional and obvious, and I'm frustrated that is who she has become. But the author's storytelling and cast of other characters with such deep and reaching roots are what makes me feel such frustration with a fictional character, so I think it's safe to say this is a solid addition to the series. For the first time since starting, I find myself anxious to read the next one, as opposed to taking a break.
