Although the holidays have just come to an end, that didn’t stop me from enjoying this novella, which takes place over Christmas and New Year.

We met Luke in Braving the Storm (coincidence? I don’t think so) and we meet him again in this novella, this time in the company of the lovely Skylar.

Skylar has just caught her boyfriend cheating on her with another woman, and bad luck comes in the form of a flat tire. Just as she is about to call her best friend to come to her rescue, she clicks on the wrong contact and calls his father. But is Skylar out of luck or is fate on her side?

The chemistry between Skylar and Luke is intense, to say the least. Drawn to each other like magnets, it’s hard to keep them apart when they’re alone together.

One thing I liked about this story was Luke telling Skylar that even though he’s known her since she was very young—she’s his son Brad’s best friend—he never had any ulterior motives towards her until the year before, when Skylar was an adult.

I also really liked Brad and Flinn and wouldn’t mind knowing more about them in the future.

I will definitely continue reading the Crimson Ridge series once Taming the Heart is out.
