Sleep Tight by J.H. Markert

4.0

This was such a fun read. I absolutely enjoyed listening to sleep tight. I got this in my BOTM box but ended up listening to it on audio as I was able to read it sooner that way. I was expecting a horror, but it was more of a psychological thriller with police procedural mixed in. This book was spooky, but just not what I expected it to be, maybe unsettling is a better word. I loved the main character, Tess. She had a whole lot going on and I loved how she felt like a real person full of layers. She had a lot of struggles, but over the course of the book she experienced a lot of growth. The side characters were also great and added a lot to the main story even though there were a lot of them. The psychological elements were fantastic, and I ate them up. They kept me guessing and questioning everything and everyone. The pacing was nice and kept me engaged with the story.

Be mindful that this book deals with children and might not be the best book if you can’t handle that. It is dark, and twisted, and just a whole lot of things that are not okay.
