The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
4.0
➸ 4 stars
Now this book was such a wild ride to say the least. It really shows you how nothing is ever truly easy in a fairytale. To start off I want to say from chapter 14 I found the use of Braille included in the book to be rather enjoyable. It really shows how real life things can be added into fantasy books to make people in the real world feel seen and heard. Professor Sader will always be a hero in my book and I will argue with another one who disagrees.
Agatha was one of the trustest friends I have ever read about. Even when Sophie did her dirty and she never stopped truly being her friend which was so heartwarming. I can’t wait to finish reading about her and her character development because she is truly amazing! Some other characters who I adored were Hort and Dot. They deserve happy endings even though they are considered “Nevers’ aka. villains.
Now time for my rant:
There is always a character that I ate with both my mind and soul and Sophie is literally one of those characters for me. Everytime I would have faith in her she would take it away but at the same time I was not surprised. In my opinion Sohpie was a lunatic and she really scared me at times. It is shocking that she actually doesn’t think she is the evil one out of the two girls. You truly only cared about herself throughout the whole book while Agatha cared for them both which shows how much of an Ever she truly was even though most couldn’t see it. I don’t think I will ever truly forgive Sophie for how she treated Agatha when all Aggie wanted was to go home and live a happy life with her best friend.
Side note: the school for good and evil history is kinda dark especially when it comes to the children who so called “fail” with the ending of the last chapter I hope much needed chances towards how the school is run will happen.
”A princess and a witch…Friends.”

“No one understands me here, but you do. You see who I am. That’s why I kept coming back.”

“Only once you destroy who you think you are can you embrace who you truly are!”

“True friends can make things right, no matter how bad they seem.”

“It’s not what we are, Sophie” “It’s what we do.”
