This latest installment of Charlie and Nick’s story was the heaviest thus far, as we explore mental health, neurodivergence, and eating disorders. One of Oseman’s main themes was how romantic love is not a magical cure all for someone struggling with their mental health, though a supportive partner can make a world of difference! I also liked the comparison of Charlie and Nick’s parents. Nick’s mom is so strong and sweet. I want to be just like her! Even though there are some darker times here, the graphic novel is still full of adorable moments of youth and love. The friend group characters continue to get wonderfully developed, even in the background. Also there’s an A+ puppy!! I honestly plan to read everything by Oseman now.
Graphic: Eating disorder
Moderate: Bullying, Homophobia, and Self harm
