The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin

i mean everyone talks about the anarchy of it all obviously because that is very interesting and i think that this is the optimal way to write political fiction!! just exploring through creating the environment where the flaws are. not presenting anything as the solution. so very important i hate when books moralize at me. resolution for 2025 no more egoizing
but what struck me, actually, is the discussion of suffering and of mutual aid and trust. you cannot evade suffering because to do so is to evade joy. hate to say it, so very schopenhauer. i’ve been thinking a lot about him lately, and trying to stop this habit of shying away from suffering. and that perhaps treating mon conpagnons de misèries with kindness and compassion is the only way to ease our way through it all.
