Wolfsong by TJ Klune

4.0

I feel like I chose to read this at a perfect time, this acted as a palette cleanser in between the epic fantasy books I’ve been reading lately and I think it was needed

This book is an emotional rollercoaster, I’ve never known a book to make you feel both happy and sad in equal amounts. It covers some heavy topics but how they are dealt with and the bonds which are formed between all the characters really makes you feel all the feels. I thought the dynamics of the wolf packs was executed well and it never felt like it suffered from any teen werewolf tropes

The plot really picks up the more you read and I thought it was quite well paced. It has a unique structure with short paragraphs and dialogue sections depending on what’s happening and it makes for a great reading experience. I wasn’t expecting it to have the plot that it has, it’s twisty and has some quite shocking moments especially when I went into this anticipating it to be majority romance (there is a lot of romance don’t get me wrong)

My biggest downfall of this book is that the love interest is first introduced at 11 years old. Nothing happens whilst they aren’t of age but you can definitely tell that this person is the love interest and it does make for an uncomfortable reading experience. I actually ended up increasing their age in my head for my own sake as it was ruining the book for me and I found myself enjoying the story a lot more after I did this

Aside from this temporary and very questionable flaw (thankfully it’s temporary), I did enjoy this and the characters so I will be checking out Ravensong to follow more adventures of the packpackpack
