This is five chapters, or interlinked stories about a series of bereavements that touch Alice either directly or indirectly. I loved the writing: spare and very European, but by the third story I wasn't sure about them - they seemed very similar and I found it hard to remember even three in my head, but by the time I finished the fifth, it all seemed to work and come together and I loved it.
