As much as I enjoy this book series, this one kind of missed the mark for me; I consume a fair amount of media from this time period in Indian history, and the inclusion of the anti-British revolutionary plotline felt a bit out of place. Not because it didn't feel true to the time period, but because it feels incongruous with the otherwise relatively lighthearted tone of the previous books. I'll say that as a white woman, I don't think there's a wrong way to talk about something like the British occupation and the sentiment surrounding it; I just don't think it was worked into the narrative particularly well, and it felt very abrupt considering this hasn't really been a plot point in the previous books.
Overall I enjoyed it, although I do think this is the weakest entry in the series.
