Il domatore di leoni by Laura Cangemi, Camilla Läckberg

5.0

Gripping and enthralling, a 5-star read for me.

In my opinion, a thriller must first and foremost entertain. I have to be eager to keep going, I have to wonder who the culprit is, I have to be surprised by one or more twists and turns. If a book meets all these criteria, then it is 5-star for me. Camilla Läckberg, with her detective stories set in Fjällbacka, doesn't miss a beat.

How is it possible that I had not read this book before? The previous ones I read right after they came out: Camilla Läckberg's books were a must. Then I was burned by The Golden Cage (gosh I hated that book) and therefore took a break from the author. However, when I saw on the library shelf this book, I immediately took it home and read it in one go.

I liked the book not only because of the - insane - case it is about, but also because from the very beginning you can sense the deception, you can sense that there is more going on underneath than what seems to emerge from the pages. You can tell that the author is playing with the reader by inserting some clues here and there. And when you are convinced that you have figured out what the twist will be, that is when you are masterfully surprised.
