So I don’t know what to say but I’ve picked this book up twice in the past three days and I’ve read up to the first chapter, then skipped to the end to read the last two and a half chapters and I can’t bring myself to read everything else in the middle. 

I don’t think it’s the book. 

But I’m not just in the right head-space for this type of novel with all of its The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert vibes. 

Maybe it’s because it’s YA horror? Maybe because it’s a dark fairy tale? Maybe because even though I cheated and read the ending I also saw it coming based on the synopsis? I don’t know what it is. 

All I know is at this moment in time, this is not doing it for me and I’m cursing the general universe that I have become my own worst enemy: a mood reader.
