You and Me on Vacation by Emily Henry
3.0
3-3.5*
Goodreads crashed mid review arghhh round two:
I finally finished it! Yay! While this was another book on my long list of books started and not finished, this book taking me a while to finish wasn’t just because of my usual mood reading/getting distracted/wanting to pick up another book thing, it was also the book itself. The back and forth between chapters of past and present and having some chapters be like this summer then this summer then a summer from 12 years ago then this summer and counting down just became confusing and annoying at what point in the story you were at. I also found the characters and storyline overall less likeable than in Book Lovers and Beach Read. I also found that this book probably had the most amount of dialogue I really didn’t like. I’ve noticed it in most of Emily Henry’s books and taken ratings down for it each time because of it but it’s most obvious in this book, there’s just w lot of dialogue that’s annoying or has kinda a bad take in it? Like slut shaming and the like. I dunno, maybe it’s just me but there’s always some lines in there that I’m like why was that necessary to put that in there? However, towards the last 30% or so I will admit I started to care and root more for Poppy and Alex and liked the ending. In saying that I’m also glad I finally finished it.
