The Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson
5.0
The second Mistborn trilogy is as enjoyable as the first one though in different ways. While I felt the first one's plot much more gripping, the second trilogy offers much more in terms of character development. Perhaps it is the fact that the plot is less enthralling, thus allowing the reader to focus on the characters, that makes them so great, especially Wayne and Steris.
As you read the three books you start to appreciate the characters even though they were depicted in a rather unflaterring light at the beginning. Wayne was more often than not depicted as a jackass and Steris as the most boring woman in Elendel. Yet, just as in real life, the more you get to know people (characters in this case), the more you tend to like them and accept who they are, despite their arguable flaws.
