This book is definitely a dark romance. Loosely based on the Swan Lake, it follows a taboo relationship between former stepsiblings. Diego is set on revenge and Maeve has her mind on getting rid of the good girl image that her wealthy family expects of her. The chemistry between these two is of the charts if it starts off in a dark place. They cannot keep their hands off each other, especially him. I loved how these authors once again delved into the mental generational trauma and the road to recovery. The ending was brilliant and it set in motion a deeper understanding between the two of them The reluctant spice was way off the chart, with dubious but given consent. This is a stand alone novel in a series, you do not need to read the first book to follow this story. Excellent writing partnership between Amy and Aurelia. Read the trigger warnings, as there are many.
