Happily Never After by Lynn Painter
4.0
4.7
First read of the year !! Happy 2025 everyone! Lynn Painter should have stuck with the original name ‘The Objectors” because Happily Never After is so boring and cliched! The leads had great chemistry and I enjoyed their banter. They actually did feel like each other’s “person.” Some of the lines during the smutty scenes felt a little disjointed and I honestly wished there was more in them. Like every sex scene ended in like 6 pages which felt way to short when most of it was "he did x and i came." I do find it weird how her best friend Asha never reappeared throughout the book and we heard more from Larry and Rose. I am NOT complaining though, Rose and Larry were basically the best part of the book for me. Generational friendships are so wholesome. Here’s to another great year of reading!
