This essay collection single-handedly changed my mind about self-improvement/self-help books. And I wish I was just being over-dramatic about that, but, unfortunately, I am not. I used to think that self-help or self-improvement books were a waste of time, and it's 100% just because what I see being promoted all the time is usually pop culture icons or talk show hosts writing about their success and that is beyond fake it makes me sick.

But this? I relate to this, I agree with this, and I enjoyed listening to someone talk about something they're passionate about while also tying in their own experiences with it. It changed my mind about what actually does classify as self-help or self-improvement and that's an added bonus to how much I loved this collection.

I've never read a self-help book before, and I'm glad this was my first one.
