Mood Swings by Frankie Barnet
4.0
This book was so strange. I really don’t think I knew what was going on the entire time, but I didn’t hate it. It was strangely good and bingeable in a bizarre way. I don’t think that I could put this in a genre box, it’s a little of a lot of things all bound up with existential dread. This book made me excited to read it, and was so engaging that I couldn’t stop turning the pages. I just needed to know how things worked out and I wasn’t let down. I enjoyed getting this story from Jenlena and Daphne’s points of view. It was interesting to see how different they were. However, I did find them hard to connect with which was a little frustrating. This book also has incredibly short chapters, some were only a few sentences. It made for a choppy read which also hindered my ability to fully immerse myself in the story. So overall while this is a bingeable book, I feel conflicted about it and am not sure what I read.
