Matteo’s father the Don has sent him to do three horrible acts as the last proof that he is fit to be the next Don. Matteo agrees to these tasks not because he respects or fears his father but because he is owed that position as the oldest son and he had done everything he can to protect his brothers. The first task involves Tasha the Senator’s daughter. He must kidnap her and set her up to be auctioned. The senator owes Matteo’s father a lot of money but the senator is responsible for the death of one of Matteo’s brother and retribution must be made.  However, Matteo was not really expecting Tasha. She is studying to be a doctor. She is bright, beautiful, extremely talkative and sassy. Tasha continues to bait and tease Matteo driving him crazy. This story is a fast paced dark mafia book with a lot of on page action and gore. This is the beginning of a great new series of a mafia family with several brothers each one different in temperament. All of the brothers are interesting and we are introduced to them all although I must admit I am most fascinated by Benedict (who I believe is the youngest). This was a great story with lots of spice, action and an interesting plot. I am eagerly looking forward to the next book in this series.
