Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers

5.0

Becky Chambers’ realistically imagined scifi novels don’t require a strong plot to shine. In Record of a Spaceborn Few just following some individuals for a period of time is more than enough. While reading the earlier installments I felt a deep curiosity about humans’ status in the universe, so Record of a Spaceborn Few, which is set on the human fleet, was exactly what I wanted. It raised some fundamental questions and ideas about humanity and the future of our species. I also need to repeat something I have expressed earlier as well, which is that the galactic community Becky Chambers has created is unlike anything else I have experienced. The attention to detail, the uniqueness of the different sapient species, the personalities of individuals are all just so fantastic – I don’t even know how to express the way I feel about them properly. There are endless possibilities for this series to expand and I can’t wait to see where we are taken to next!
