I died of loving this book. To me, the characters felt so real, including the ways in which they were imperfect. The portrayal of racism seemed very accurate, especially because it popped up even with the characters we were rooting for. I COULD NOT SLEEP without finishing this book, and it wasn't because it was so suspenseful. It was just because I was laying in bed, thinking about the book and I how I wanted to be reading it. The adventure and found family were just. So. Good. I recognize there might be some things that bother people
The ending for Annamae's brother was /rough/. I wanted better things for him, and it was big sad.
