The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
5.0
"Always, always chase the moon."
After The Dead Romantics I didn't think I could ever love a book as much! I didn't think I would so quickly find one that stuck with me; and one that I needed so much time to process how I felt. I mean LOVED it doesn't seem to do it justice. Once again, Poston has created this amazing masterpiece that manages to rip my heart out and put it back together all at the same time. It was such a lovely story and again Poston manages to address grief but also gives us this beautiful romance story. Clementine was such a well rounded character, she was grieving for her aunt, a woman who caused her to come out of her shell, and so she kept everyone at a distance.
The appearance of Iwan into Clementine's life is full of some hilarious moments. I mean what isn't to find amusing in a Jeff Goldblum pillow being used as a weapon. I loved how the relationship between Clementine and Iwan progressed in the past. It was this beautiful story of stolen moments that ended too soon. I have so many other comments I could make, but all of them would be spoilers and I just can't ruin this amazing experience for anyone. This is one of those books that you just have to consume. I finished it the same day I started it and then hated myself for not making it last longer.
I loved watching how even though it was a romance it was a story about Clementine coming out of her grief and also remembering to chase the moon. She needed a reminder to find herself and do things she enjoyed. And it isn't until Iwan that that begins to happen. He was the catalyst for her to develop into who she was meant to be. I honestly feel like I could gush about this book all day and I will... but you should really read it... with a support group if possible haha.
