Too Much and Not the Mood: Essays by Durga Chew-Bose
5.0
I can almost feel myself getting smarter and more absorbed in details when I read Durga Chew-Bose's writing. Some of it is so dense it goes over my head, but I hope that it'll marinate in my mind anyway. Her almost stream-of-consciousness writing makes me think and appreciate the moments in my life that were so small that I almost didn't remember them. Her thoughts on memory and girlhood and race are all intertwined in a way that makes you step back and then come back and try to untangle. It was such a pleasure to see her read from this book last semester, and a pleasure to finally read it now.
