The Ruin by Dervla McTiernan
5.0
With one of the most well-knit plots I've read lately, this crime thriller, set in Ireland, has empathetic characters tossed into a mystery with a believable setup and a compelling payoff. Part police procedural and part amateur sleuthing, this book also manages to explore some thematic questions about morality and the blurred line between justice and revenge. Despite the slow-burn of a start, the book was hard to put down once the ball started rolling.
