Choose Me is a slow-burn romance between Erik, and his best friend’s brother Jules. There have been secret mutual pinning since they were teens. But their brother/best friend, Stef, warned Erik off from his baby brother a long time ago. Erik left soon after to work in Arizona, but 14 years later he’s coming home. And he’s ready to earn a chance with Jules.
For Jules’ whole life, he’s had to deal with some severe anxiety. It’s a battle men don’t care to stick around for. But Erik has always made him feel safe. It makes it hard to let go of his crush on the man. But he may not have to, assuming he can convince his overprotective brother to accept them together.
Both men are pretty great. Erik may be conflict adverse, but he’s more than willing to stand up for the people he loves, he’s steady and compassionate. Jules, despite his anxiety and struggles, is kind and optimistic. Never really giving in or giving up. They are a great pair, who understand and support each other beautifully.
I really like a slow-burn romance based on friendship. And while this is a low angst story, there’s plenty of meat to it to draw you in and keep you engaged as they navigate life and some pretty deep issues.
