Rent: Paid In Full by Jesse Reign affected me in a way not many books do. I do get involved in the books I read but very rarely does one of them make me spontaneously cry. This one had me in tears twice.
It starts with one unhappy, previously traumatized, and very skittish young man (Ryan) and his "perfect," popular, rich, and gorgeous roommate (Miller). Ryan needs money badly. He's working himself ragged but can barely make ends meet. Then his car breaks down! Miller tries to help but Ryan won't accept "charity" so he proposes a deal. He'll pay Ryan (handsomely) for sexual favors. Many incredibly steamy encounters ensue! As life goes along, Miller begins to fall for Ryan but Ryan just can't accept it. Why would this amazing guy be interested in him. The anxiety and deep trauma he suffers won't let Ryan give in to his own feelings.
The deep emotional issues can be both euphoric and devastating and are written incredibly skillfully. The passion is beautiful. I can't recommend this book strongly enough.
