i mean, it’s definitely a great book, very well-written and well-narrated (i listened to the audiobook). i’d argue it should even be included in irish literary canon if it's not already. the author has a way of really pushing the childlike wonder he had, especially through the harder times for an oddly hopeful story of poverty and hunger. and angela’s strength, in all its forms, is clearly visible throughout the book. it is hard to listen to, though, at times. especially when i consider how many relatives i’ve had with similar stories. but the toughest stories can be the most important so
