This book was very straight. This author usually writes YA books, and it kind of seemed like she was putting extraordinary effort into making the adults in this story seem old as hell. They were what, 33? It just seemed unnecessarily exaggerated to me.

The story grew on me, though, after a while. I'm mostly glad I didn't put it down.
