Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney
5.0
"Fear of the unknown is always greater than fear of the familiar." This is a story about fear of the unknown but also of moving forward. The first page makes this message loud and clear. Fear can be scary, powerful, paralyzing but also motivating. Amber wakes up in a hospital from a coma with no recollection of what took place to get her there. She fears her husband and/or sister are to blame. When the truth is revealed, her world changes forever.
I was hooked from page 1 and found myself talking to the pages out loud as the story slowly u folded. The author does an amazing job of showing different perspectives as she reveals bits and pieces of the plot that lead to the jawdropping climax.
I couldn't imagine being in Amber's situation and having to move past certain situations that happened to her. I was left with my mouth wide open as the events towards the end unfolded. I wanted to cheer, scream and laugh throughout different points throughout the story. The ending threw me for a loop and gave me the sense that this is not the end of Amber's story and I am yearning for more.
