Beneath Fated Bonds by Anna Hawke

3.0

This was my first book by Anna Hawke and I enjoyed it but, it needed more.

In BENEATH FATED BONDS, we meet Nova, the feisty Alpha of a territory of wolf shifters and Kane, one of the vampire leads of a coven. A threat in an alliance between the species is threatened when attacks begin to happen on both sides. Nova and Kane are tasked with discovering who the individual(s) who are that are trying to prevent the alliance from being solidified. The problems is, they despise one another. Be that as it may, these two find themselves drawn to each other and fight the growing attraction between them.

I am a huge fan of the “enemies to lovers” trope. Nova and Kane definitely had chemistry and the plot was overall great but the execution could have been better. The attraction was just instantaneous and I thought it weird that Nova was the only one to actually feel the mating bond. Definitely a “no bueno” when dealing with FATED MATES in my book!

Further, the actual mating ceremony was dull and uneventful. It was sort of like these two traded friendship bracelets than had an actual passionate coupling. It was like, “ok, I bite you… you’re mine.” *CHOMP*… “Ok… your turn to bite me now.” *CHOMP*… Boom! We’re mates! For fated mates, this was rather bland. It seemed like Kane showed more affection for his fledglings than he did Nova.

This is book one and I’m hoping that book two is better, as I really enjoyed this authors writing.

Happy reading!
