Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo

4.0

Listening to this one is the way to go! There is something so emotionally stirring and connective about listening to an author read her own work alone, especially when it’s a novel in verse.

This was such an incredible story of loss, being torn asunder by a tragedy that ultimately revealed long-hidden family secret, and then ultimately being stitched back together in a new way that allows characters to move forward.

The two main characters of this novel are on separate quests to find themselves after losing their father, and ultimately question whether also finding each other should or even can be part of their healing.

Fantastic novel from Elizabeth Acevedo! Definitely want to check out her debut now as well!
