When He Was Wicked by Julia Quinn

4.0

I really liked this (thank god I was losing hope). I think this book spoke to me because Francesca, John, and Michael were all honest, raw, fleshed out characters, a stark comparison to the last two books that really dropped the ball on the character building and instead lazily leaned on grumpy dominant “men rule the household and their wives” and angry hookups being confused for love. This book felt like the first two, really focusing on the main couple and how they grew into love, worked through their guilt, and still made space for grief in all its forms. I think this is only 4 stars bc I am burnt out on bridgerton and everything is starting to blend together. Break time lol
