I liked the investigative part of this book and absolutely loathed the rest. First part of book 1 was perfect. FMC was strong. Smart. Didn’t trust anyone and questioned everything. Until the thing. Then this whole book she questions nothing, goes belly up for every man who touches her EXCEPT for the one who never actually wronged her in the first place. And with her background I get her reluctance with him. My problem was with everyone else. Totally different character than what we got in book 1 and not in a good growth kinda way. So I somehow both loved and hated this book. Hopefully book 3 is back on track. Pleaseeeeee. The potential here is great.
