Racism, Public Schooling, and the Entrenchment of White Supremacy: A Critical Race Ethnography by Sabina E. Vaught

5.0

To say I was not ready for the truths on these pages would be an epic understatement. Vaught teaches, schools and underscores here as only someone who gets it on both an academic and experiential level can. There is a ferocious reality for people of Color in our institutions, public schooling being but one example. This is my first ethnography, but I can imagine it is not easy to make the example feel exemplary and pervasive, but Vaught makes that come through clearly. This is one of those that should rightfully sit on required reading lists certainly in college, but I'd also argue for high school.
