Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
5.0
If you thought this book is solely based on the love triangle between the main character and her supporting acts, you thought wrong. Though love is part of its fabric, oppression, manipulation, poverty, corruption, pollution, war, hunger, greed, power, betrayal, freedom...are the themes that takes precedence weaving a dark, vivid, evoking, sultry tale. It's so much more than a story.
'The Hunger Games' trilogy is a depiction of where we might head if we continue doing what we do. If we continue being ungrateful to mother nature. If we continue letting others think for us. If we let corrupt thoughts and deeds take over the good and great in us. If we let corrupt leaders lead us on...
Collins has left me hungering and thirsting for more, thinking deeply and being grateful for all I have now. She "...weaves a tapestry so rich in detail that you can't doubt it's authenticity. "Her writing style has me spurred to write as her words weaved and mingled with her thoughts.
Our protagonists is such a force to be reckoned with. Not only is she dealing with raging teen hormones but all this distorted world and people. She is a symbol of hope, defiance, redemption... Too much a coming of age person can bear on her shoulders. Sometimes it gets her down, on her knees. She is one strong, determined, flawed, selfless and at the same time selfish, scheming as the rest of the characters. You'll either love her or hate her. Or even both. I loved her more than hated her.
The third book is as phenomenal & gripping as its preceding two. Nothing is diluted, its gets so strong you don't want to move. Its not meant to have a happy or sappy ending. It's as real, raw and ravaging a book can get. The ending though....
A lot was happening here so much that I understand why some people say it was rushed.
