The Jock by Tal Bauer

challenging emotional hopeful sad medium-paced

5.0

I don't really like to compare books, but THIS is the emotional journey I was hoping for but didn't really get from The Endgame by Riley Hart. I still enjoyed that book, but The Jock has highs and lows and STAKES and I went in not expecting to love it as much as I did. Also, I'm not at all an American football fan, but this author really got the team stuff and the action on the field right. Like, not so much that I was skimming those scenes, but he clearly knows the game really well and how team dynamics/relationships work. I also like how we have both internal and external conflicts they have to work through. It is very swoony and romantic and I ate it up with a spoon. Will definitely re-read and try more from this author.
